Social media in the libraries of medical universities – an attempt at comparison

Authors

Abstract

Scientific libraries have been using social media for a long time. Library employees are open to new technologies and learned how to use them. They are aware of the role technology plays in the libraries’ activities. Thanks to social media, librarians can share knowledge and experience. Direct contact with users translates into better relationships with them. Social media are an attractive and inspiring tool to create a positive image. The article is an attempt at answering the question of how to conduct business on social networking sites and what mistakes to avoid when promoting a library on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
