The contribution of Wrocław gynecology, obstetrics and pediatrics to the development of European medicine in the 19th and 20th centuries – a project of the Library of Wrocław Medical University
Abstract
The article is the result of a project under the ministerial task "Social responsibility of science II" - Support for research libraries (Project: SON.Z504.23.001). As part of the project, over 300 publications (some of which have been subjected to bookbinding restoration), largely unique in Poland and/or in the world, were recorded bibliographically and made available in online catalogues. The project was aimed at expanding the scope of research dealing with the history of medicine and at disseminating historical knowledge about the development of the medical sciences. An important role of the project was also to save from oblivion and, above all, to disseminate the publications that were previously unknown due to the lack of information about them. The article describes: the implementation of individual cataloguing activities, interesting summaries that were created during the cataloguing, and conclusions emphasizing what an important scientific centre Wrocław was in the 19th and 20th centuries.
